Are you a leader? Are you interested in meeting, collaborating, and developing your leadership skills with other students from around the state of Vermont? Do you want to participate in a program which will help prepare you for college and career?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be a prime candidate to participate in the Vermont Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) seminar. The HOBY seminar is an enrichment opportunity which:
“brings select young leaders, with similar passions from all regions across the state, together in one location. HOBY Vermont provides the students, we call ambassadors, with experiences and opportunities to better the talents and skills that they already possess through a variety of activities. These include, but are not limited to, guest speakers, entrepreneurship workshops, team building activities, cultural awareness exercises, volunteer service projects, and social/personal leadership development. Ambassadors leave empowered, energized, and part of a greater network of leaders across the state.”
Any interested students may apply. Students must complete a short essay for consideration, the essays will be reviewed anonymously, and North Country School Counseling Department will nominate two students to participate. The seminar will take place at Saint Michael’s College May 24-27, 2018 (***Be advised, this is Memorial Day Weekend and often, the weekend of The All State Music Festival***)
Interested students, please visit Tara Niedermeier in Guidance for the Essay prompt. Essays must be submitted no later than December 7, 2017. For more information about this program, please visit: http://hobyvt.org/wp/
